Hvad bruges Nasya-olie til?

Nasya oil is an Ayurvedic herbal oil applied to the nasal passages. The practice of Nasya — applying oil to the nose — is part of Dinacharya, the traditional Ayurvedic daily routine.

The most commonly used Nasya oil is Anu Tailam, a classical formula containing herbs infused into sesame oil. It's been used in Ayurveda for centuries as part of morning self-care practice.

To practice Nasya at home, start by warming the oil slightly. You can do this by placing the bottle in warm water for a few minutes. Lie down with your head tilted back — a pillow under your shoulders helps. Place two or three drops of oil in each nostril and inhale gently to draw the oil inward. Rest for a few minutes afterward.

The practice is traditionally done in the morning on an empty stomach. Avoid doing Nasya immediately after eating or bathing, or when you have a cold or sinus congestion.

Many people find that regular Nasya practice helps their nasal passages feel more comfortable, particularly in dry environments or during seasonal changes. It's a simple ritual that takes just a few minutes but can become a valued part of your morning routine.

If you're new to Nasya , start with just one or two drops per nostril and see how it feels. Some people practice daily; others do it a few times a week. Pay attention to how your body responds and adjust accordingly.

Anu Tailam is considered suitable for general use by most people. However, if you have any nasal or sinus conditions, it's worth consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner before beginning a Nasya practice.
